No Matter What

by Lynn S.

I still will be suspicious
But I can make three wishes,
And I won't be mean or vicious
No matter what he does.

I still must set a boundary
And yet let love surround me,
But I won't let him confound me
No matter what he does.

I still will sometimes suffer
But I can grow much tougher,
And I won't be his buffer
No matter what he does.

I still must grieve the sadness
But I can find the gladness,
And I won't acquire his madness
No matter what he does.

It still is hard forgiving
But I can go on living,
And I won't give up on giving
No matter what he does.

I still must seek new powers
But not waste precious hours,
And I can smell the flowers
No matter what he does.

I have to claim what's mine now.
I'll follow my own line now,
And I will be just fine now
No matter what he does.

Establishing Healthy Boundaries in Relationships

quote:

"People with low self-esteem have their major difficulties in relationships with others. This is because they are unable to establish healthy boundaries or limits with people. The reason, for this inability, is that with low self-esteem comes a variety of irrational thoughts, emotions and actions which leads people to lose themselves in relationships with others."

Boundaries in Relationships
http://lifeesteem.org/wellness/wellness_boundaries.html

quote:

"Boundaries come from having a good sense of our own self-worth. They make it possible for us to separate our own thoughts and feelings from those of others and to take responsibility for what we think, feel and do."
